Ohio Seeing Eye Dog Hit and Killed by
Car
This sad report describes how an Ohio seeing eye dog was
hit by a car and
killed:
http://www.wcpo.com/news/2003/local/03/04/blind.html
In this case, the seeing eye dog escaped from the blind
person's apartment
without her knowledge:
"I thought she was in her bed but she wasn't," said Gardner.
"I called her
and she didn't come. I went in there and she wasn't there. I
searched the
whole two-room place and she wasn't around. It's just a
mystery how she did
get out."
The story does not give details other than the seeing eye
dog was evidently
struck by a vehicle outside the woman's apartment:
"The black labrador retriever weighed about 65 pounds and
wore a chain
collar with three I.D. tags. Lucy's body was found in a
parking lot across
the street from the retirement village."
This article highlights the importance of keeping an eye on
your seeing eye
animal.
